If you want to delete an iCloud account from Mail, select it from the Settings> iOS Account and Password menu and move the lever for the Mail option to OFF.

By doing so, you will remove the iCloud account from Mail but will not disable the online data synchronization functions (contacts, photos, videos, reminders, etc.) with the famous Apple service. If you want to completely delete an iCloud account from the iPhone to replace it with another, follow the instructions in the next chapter of this tutorial.

Set the default email address on iPhone

If you have decided to set a new email address on the iPhone without deleting the one (or the ones) that you had previously set, you will probably want to set the latter as the default Mail account, ie as an address to send mail by default through the client of Apple mail.

To choose which email address to use as the default address in Mail for iOS, go to the Settings> iOS Mail menu, tap on the Default Account option at the bottom of the screen and put the check mark next to the account name that you want to use as a default in Mail (eg Gmail).

Change iCloud accounts on iPhone

Have you created a new iCloud account and want to use it on your iPhone instead of the one currently set on your phone? Nothing could be easier. First, however, I suggest you make a complete backup of the data on the “iPhone” and download the data of your interest, primarily photos and videos, from the iCloud account you are about to remove from the iPhone.

If you do not know how to download photos from iCloud, read my tutorial dedicated to the topic. If, instead, you need a hand to make a local backup of the data on the iPhone, see my guide on how to backup iPhone.

Once you’ve saved all the data you’re interested in, you can remove the current iCloud account from your iPhone. Go then in the Settings menu of iOS (the gear icon located on the home screen), tap on your name, scroll to the bottom of the screen that opens and presses the Exit button.

At this point, enter the password of your Apple ID, press the Deactivate button and confirm your desire to delete the iCloud account from the device by pressing the appropriate button.

Once disconnected from your current iCloud account, you can set up a new account on the iPhone simply by going to the Settings menu of iOS and pressing on the item Log in to iPhone. Easier than that ?!

If you do not know a few steps, take a look at my tutorial on how to activate iCloud on iPhone where I explained how to best configure an iCloud account on the Apple smartphone.
